Today is Leap Day, presenting a great opportunity for us to dedicate extra time to Environmental Action. We gain an additional 24 hours that we don't typically have in a year. This 'bonus' time can serve as a metaphorical reminder of the importance of taking timely action to address pressing environmental issues. Leap Day encourages us to make the most of every moment to protect our planet.

With electronic devices becoming essential parts of our daily lives, the disposal of old chargers has led to a surge in electronic waste. To combat this trend, the Ecoshare Initiative has launched a charger collection drive, inviting people to donate their old or unused chargers for recycling and reuse. One collection location is at BASIS San Antonio Shavano, with a collection box shown below.

Each charger deposited into the box represents a step towards reducing electronic waste and minimizing our ecological footprint. By repurposing and recycling these chargers responsibly, we can contribute to a more sustainable future for generations to come. This endeavor aims to tackle the escalating problem of electronic waste while advocating responsible recycling practices. Additionally, the collected chargers will be distributed to those in need of them.

As we celebrate Leap Day and persist in our charger collection drive, I urge each of you to contemplate the role you can play in advancing sustainability. Whether it means donating your old chargers, embracing energy-efficient practices, or advocating for policy changes, every action contributes to constructing a greener, more resilient world. Active participation is essential to leap us forward in our mission to safeguard the planet.
