So I discovered an ECO-Atm

January blog

Recently, I stumbled upon what is known as an ECO-Atm and I feel obligated to make a blog about it. Basically what this machine does is it scans an old phone that you want to recycle, gives you the option to recycle it in the machine, and provides monetary compensation. Basically, the rundown is that you have to first clean and factory reset your old device. Next you plug the device into the ECO-atm and it will scan for the model of the phone. Afterwards it will give you the information on how much compensation you will receive. If you choose to proceed with the recycling you will be not only rewarded with a bit of cash, but also a clear conscience that you recycled instead of contributing to E-waste.

This particular ECO-Atm was found at a Walmart, but they can pop up in basically any grocery store. I see these as a significant jump in the right direction, that some people are actually starting to acknowledge that E-waste is a problem and are actively trying to fix it. Next time you have any old phones or technology you are willing to recycle, try finding one of these! It’s a much better alternative to anything else.
