Over thanksgiving break I got some much-needed rest. However, I learned a valuable skill that could be very beneficial to my research in the future. I This may be a bit of a tangent to my purpose in this nonprofit since this is about the environment, not about me. But hear me out this could be very important for some climate change related project I am doing in the future.
So basically, I learned how to use NVIDIA Omniverse Issac sim to simulate various different objects and events. I signed up for a training session with some students from UTSA. The course was quite advanced but very entertaining and by the end of it I had created a fully functioning Robot model. I could also control it in tandem with other robots I had modeled in the same program, being the only person who was actually able to achieve this. It was originally for my senior project but I already can see the applications for modeling interactions in the environment such as solar panel or wind turbine efficiency (Which is needed for my science fair project).
Speaking of future projects, I’m really excited to keep using it. NVIDIA Omniverse has a ton of other applications for sustainability research. One of the coolest examples is Earth-2, which is about creating a digital twin of Earth for climate modeling. The idea is to build extremely-detailed digital models of Earth’s systems to study and analyze them. I’m also planning to use this for my science fair project.
In the end, I learned a lot and I will be glad to use this tool in the future. Just a little update on the rest of my nonprofit, I have completely redesigned a lot of it. My podcast is also going to be continued over Christmas break so stay tuned for that!
