As 2023 transitions to 2024, many of us set resolutions hoping to improve our lives. Why not improve the state of the planet this year? Here are some tips that may fit seamlessly into your new year’s resolutions.
Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle
We've all heard it before, but it’s worth repeating. Try to reduce waste and only buy what you need, reuse what you can, and recycle properly. Small steps like carrying reusable bags and water bottles and avoiding single-use plastics can make a big difference. Reduce e-waste by maintaining electronic devices instead of frequently replacing them. If you have some spare chargers and cables, we strongly encourage you to donate them to organizations like ours, Ecoshare Initiative, so we can distribute them to those who need them.
Conserve Energy
Habits such as turning off lights when you leave a room, using energy-efficient appliances, unplugging unused power adapters, and reducing your AC usage can significantly lower your energy consumption. Also be mindful of your screen time as data storage and transfer also use a lot of energy.
Use Sustainable Transportation
Choose eco-friendly transportation options whenever possible. Walking, biking, scootering, and public transportation not only reduce your carbon footprint but can also make you healthier.
Support Eco-Friendly Products
When shopping, look for products with eco-friendly packaging or those made from sustainable materials. Supporting businesses that prioritize sustainability helps promote greener practices.
Cut Down on Water Waste
Simple actions like fixing leaks, taking shorter showers, and turning off the tap while brushing your teeth can save significant amounts of water which in turn helps save the environment.
Participate in Earth Hour and World Environment Day
Join millions around the world by turning off non-essential lights for one hour on Earth Hour, March 23, 2024 from 8:30 to 9:30 pm local time to show your commitment to the planet. Also try to engage in activities and events on Environment Day (June 5, 2024) to celebrate and promote environmental awareness.
Adopting these eco-friendly habits into your daily life will contribute positively to our planet's health. A cleaner and greener 2024 starts right at your home. Accumulated over time, every small action matters.
